Rev. Dr. Russell Daye
Russ Daye has been a United Church minister for 20 years. He is Lead Minister of St. Andrew's United Church in Halifax. Previously, he served churches in Quebec and Outport Newfoundland and was overseas personnel in Fiji, where he taught at the Pacific Theological College and worked with the Fiji Government on a national reconciliation program in the wake of a coup d'etat and a period of ethnic violence. He has also taught at theological colleges in Montreal and Halifax. Russ has a Ph.D. in comparative religious ethics, having written his dissertation on the reconciliation process in South Africa, where he lived for a time. In 2004 Orbis Books published his dissertation under the title Political Forgiveness: Lessons from South Africa. One of Russ' current passions is reconciliation with aboriginalpeoples. He co-chairs the United Church's Living into Right Relations task group - a body appointed to give leadership during the TRC process. Another passion is his time with sons Sam (10) and Will (8), who are his principal theology teachers these days.
